The Caterpillar Cowboy by Russ Lanier is a cute, Christian children’s story. It is about a caterpillar who lives in an apple tree. The little caterpillar watches for the cowboys who comes through the area every year with the cattle. The caterpillar would love to be a cowboy so he can ride horses. But then he has an experience that changes his mind. The Caterpillar Cowboy has lovely graphics, a charming story, and a good lesson (not to be envious of others and what they have). The story is just the right length too. If it was any longer, the child would likely lose interest. This would be a good story to read to a child (or let the child read for themselves). Bright coloured pictures tell the story as beautiful as the simple words to bring alive the world of a young caterpillar. I would love to put this book into the hand of every child I know. This story will become a favorite of both child and parent, even after it has been read so many times that the pages are dog-eared and sticky and both child and adult know it by heart.. It tells a tale that every child needs to hear, and they will delight in telling their friends both real and imaginary about it. Both the pictures and the story are superb.
Thank you to Fred and Cheri at Bookfun.org, the author, Russ Lanier, illustrator Whitney Lanier and publisher Rachel K. Hartman at OWL of Hope, LLC, for the opportunity to read this book. I was given a free Ebook for the purpose of this honest review. A positive critique was not required. The opinions are my own.

What a fun story of God's blessings and gifts. The little caterpillar loved his apple tree. He had a dream of being a cowboy. He would watch and wait until the ground rumbled and the dust clouded to see his cowboys and their horses. All of his friends laughed at his dream. Until a very special day he was granted a dream and rode a horse and became a cowboy for a moment.
God gives us wonderful blessings and some surprises when we least expect it. Always believe in your dreams for you never know what God has in store for us.… (más)
