This novel might not be the most well-written I have encountered so far, and the story isn't too sophisticatet either, but the atmosphere throughout this book as well as Siegtrud herself and so many tiny, heartwarming details make this a truly enjoyable experience. Having read it on a crowded train I can still feel the endless stream of thought relax and…
Oh well. It is a book that totally got me tied to it in a very, very gentle way, comparable to some charming old lady asking for assistance with the ticket machine. There's nothing more to explain.

Ein wunderbares Buch. Wer wissen möchte wie eine Depression beginnt, wie sie sich "anfühlt" und wie man damit lebt, soll dieses Buch lesen.

Personal Response:
A fabulous birds-eye-view of the traditional Greenlandic lifestyle and landscape. This visual introduction gives readers a sense of things and provides basic information - without seeming too informational - about Greenland.

Curricular or Programming Connections:
Great for exploring traditional lifestyles, Greenland, life by the sea, and survival in harsh weather conditions.

Personal Review:
An interesting look into the issues faced by newcomers into a small Icelandic village and how, with time, they are able to overcome the challenges and become part of the community.

Curricular or Programming Connections:
Excellent curriculum support for dealing with issues regarding diversity, racism, and social exclusion and acceptance.
