Biografía breve
Hugo Kraus (1914-1996) was an Austrian Esperantist and an honorary member of the Austrian Esperantist Federation (Aŭstria Esperantista Federacio). Having learned Esperanto in 1934 at the prompting of Ludwig Schödl, he collaborated with Hugo Steiner for eight months in preparation for the World Congress of Esperanto (Universala Kongreso de Esperanto), held in Vienna in 1936. In 1935, with his brother Walter, he formed an Esperantist cadre within the anti-fascist resistance movement, for which he was imprisoned for a full year in 1936-37. He joined the AEF in 1946, and became vice-president of the organization in 1950. He served (1950-51, 1971-85) as editor of the Aŭstria Esperanto-Revuo, the official organ of the AEF. He taught Esperanto courses in a night school in Vienna. From 1961, he collaborated with the Internacia-Esperanto-Kampadejo-Primoŝteno, an Esperantist vacation resort in Dalmatia (in Yugoslavio), and in 1963 he published a picture book about the resort, entitled Feliĉigaj ferioj. He was a participant in the local committee which organized the World Congress of Esperanto in Viena in 1970. Kraus died at Andorf on 3 December 1996.
