In the tradition of Bordertown -- urban faerie stories with courts and intrigue and all the rest. Great story, especially amusing to read as a Seattle-ite -- it's a very, very Seattle geek story. Not a polished book, but a pleasing one nonetheless.

Very nice - looking forward to reading the next one

Liked the characters. Fun and easy to read; took me just three days in my spare time. Lots of possibilities for future book plots.

Excellent again. Slightly darker, and with higher stakes, than the first book; we learn a lot more about some of the secondary characters - their motivations and their pasts. Kendis is still the central character, but (as the author points out in the afterword) this book has some scenes from others' POVs. Tiny gripe - I wish those scenes were set off some way, with spacers of some sort. It's disconcerting to have the next paragraph be a different person. But I was never confused for more than a sentence about whose POV it was. Nasty villain, and some long-term effects from dealing with her - but there's lots more story before that comes into effect.… (más)

Oh, I like! Nice in media res start (though we never do find out exactly what triggered her...). Great characters, fascinating take on faerie and others. I really like Kendis - I thought the variations in her name would be more protective than they were, but the effect they did have was very interesting. A lot of complicated motivations, but Kendris and Christopher are relatively straightforward (which I prefer - I dislike both manipulators and unreliable narrators). She does have, possibly, a slightly too soft heart... I knew there was a sequel, but didn't get it because I wanted to be sure I was interested. Went and bought it as soon as I finished this story, and I'll be keeping an eye out for her other series.… (más)
