This book follows a group of young adults as they grow together as a team in a world of magic, demons, and a special group of souls that come back to inhabit 5 people each lifetime to create a special group that can fight the demons who want to rule the world. Sounds like a familiar plot but this story is so much more. Very good character development including the nuances of having to deal with a second soul in the same body speaking to you, helping or hindering your actions and interactions in various ways. This young group has to grow in their abilities, learn how to use and interact with their second souls, and deal with loss. The old mentors are also done very well as characters in this story. Unfortunately I don't think this book was for me. The premise didn't quite work for me. The novel was both too slow in the pacing of the actual story and too fast in jumping into the action without giving enough context and background to the characters. I also had a hard time keeping track of all of the different characters, especially given the lack of background story.

I instantly fall in love with the plot of the Citadel of the Fallen, that’s the reason I requested this book on Librarything. The topic was really promising and I didn’t get disappointed, however for my liking it was a bit slow paced read.
Talking about the characters and the scenes of the book I liked them all. This novel has the power to pull in the reader and make them be part of it. In my opinion the series’ next book will have lot of posibilites and chance to get even more readers hooked to it.… (más)
