It's the holiday season and love is not in the air at H.E. Caldwell's department stores. The retailer has continued to grow and expand. New executives are being hired and old ones replaced. Power couple, Miles Bradshaw and Elle Sanford are on the outs, and it doesn't look like a reunion will happen any time soon.

Recently engaged, Cyndy Lawsen's been ghosted, and it looks like there's not going to be a wedding after all. Jacques Moreau is nowhere to be found. Jay Shulman continues to look for love in all the wrong places, and Monique Taylor is still on the hunt for Mr. Right Now.

At the start of the novel, so many characters were introduced, I couldn’t keep up. But too my surprise, this is the third book in a series. So, now I have to backtrack and learn more about each character.

Overall, the writing style was good. A cute holiday romance themed story. I liked the characters, as the stories of each person unfolded, I was intrigued. It had humor, drama and just enough romance to keep my interest, but not overwhelm me. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Needed an easy airplane read and this fit the bill. I was mainly curious to see how a story about black vintners struggling with a start-up boutique in Woodinville would play out. Wine details were fast and loose (Jon and Hudson continually aim for big profits in the short term when most vintners will tell you they do it for the love of wine, not the money), but the focus of course was the romance between Hudson and Laila. Standard stuff!

This book didn't grab me (the hero's a little too alpha for my tastes, and women being treated badly by their workplace aren't something I read for escape), but the writing's good; I'd recommend it to a romance reader who likes non-jerk alpha heroes, or to someone looking for a good romance involving multiracial characters.
