This was a disappointing second novel in this series, Women of Greece. The main character is stood up at the alter & is soon accused of the groom’s murder by every town gossip. The groom’s aggrieved mother goes mad & believes he’s still alive. Meanwhile, American Leo—visiting his birthplace—gets thrown into his mandatory military service, which he is determined to go AWOL to get back to the USA before his mother passes of cancer. It’s supposed to be a laugh-a-minute series & the 1st book was. The topics in this one didn’t lend themselves to humor and it got embarrassingly ridiculous sometimes. It also felt like it was written by two different people. It was slow to start & some chapters were bizarre and I had no idea what they were supposed to be about. When Vivi’s husband leaves her and their 15-year-old daughter, Vivi decides they’ll visit her parents’ hometown in Greece with the potential to stay indefinitely. Extraordinarily entertaining family tragedy, drama, romance, and hilarity ensue—all Greek-style—a bit lengthier ebook than I normally read and I finished in 2 days flat. That’s how hard it was to put down.

Kat Makris is an average young woman working as a customer service representative in Seattle. She has a weekly routine of having dinner with her widowed Greek father. Kat had always heard stories about her Greek heritage. One Sunday, when she goes to visit, her father is missing. A few days later, two cousins she never met kidnap her to Greece. She meets her relatives while trying to find her father. She discovers her father had a secret life before coming to America.

This was an excellent book. Kat's adventures from an average person to a member of a Greek crime family is a page Turner. The story has humor, possible romance and knowledge of Greek culture. It keeps you in suspense with a surprise ending.… (más)
