This was a good paranormal shifter book. I haven't read anything from these authors before, but I'll definitely be looking at other works by them.
The characters in this are well fleshed out with some interesting quirks. No carbon copies from other books. Both MC's have history and it shows in their actions. Also no "fated mates" or the likes here either. The "I love you's" do come a little speedy, but with the way Redford has been raised and treated for all his life, that doesn't even seem odd.
I'm glad there is a sequel because there were some questions left unanswered in this one...nothing major, no great cliff hanger or plot holes that need to be filled. Just some bits that I would like to know more about.… (más)
This is one of those books where you just sit back and enjoy the fun! I wasn't sure what to expect, but what I got was a fun, light-hearted, yet not fluffy read.
August or Auggie (seriously though, just that nickname would be a cause for low self-esteem!) as his family calls him, is an sweet guy with a self-image issue. He also incidentally turns into a chinchilla... Sam is a somewhat older (16 years doesn't qualify for May-December in my opinion...) quite sexy guy, who has issues due to a nasty divorce. After a while I'll admit that the moaning over his weight, fat rolls etc did become a little much, but it was easy to overlook in the end.
The mystery sub-plot was simple, but again fun. There wasn't a truckload of angst, or drama. Just enough to keep the story interesting. I hope that Alex Kidwell writes us another story with these guys. I'd love to read more about them.… (más)
