I liked this book for several reasons. The main message of this book is to provide children with a common nursery rhyme. I liked that the pictures were big enough for young children and brightly colored to engage the reader. The illustrations feature wooden toys that are colored using bright reds, blues, greens and yellows. I also liked that each page featured only one line of the poem/ nursery rhyme which allows the young reader to spend more time focusing on the pictures. I liked that the illustrations corresponded well to the text on the page. For example, the text reads “the mouse ran up the clock” and the page features a mouse in a red jacket and cap climbing up and old grandfather clock. This will also help teach younger children vocabulary. The poem is appropriate for young readers because young children enjoy repetitiveness in books.… (más)

This book is ideal for children, both is design and appearance. The thick pages make it easy for young hands to grasp and turn them and the detailed coloration will also attract their eyes. A large number of colors are used, which keeps their attention for an extended period of time. There is also a lot of supplementary detail in the images. For example, the black sheep is covered with a brightly colored quilt, wears granny glasses and knits, and on all pages after the first, there are people in the background doing other things. There is very little text, consisting of the simple poem that starts with the title. I strongly recommend this book to parents with infants.… (más)
