When Moira Gallagher takes a cleaning job with her friend Cassie and overhears something she shouldn't, she runs straight to her brother, Declan, for help. Declan makes arrangements with his friend Justin to leave Ireland with Moira and his pregnant fiance. In the United States, Justin takes Moira to his brother, Danny, who works for HIS security. Danny is smitten with Moira and tries to help her even though she doesn't comprehend the kind of danger she is in. Danny's efforts prove futile as the danger from Ireland has followed them to the US.

Even though Midnight Escape brings together two dynamic leads, they never really seem to connect emotionally. Much of this novel uses telling vs. showing and leaves a variety of frustrating plot holes. In addition, a considerable portion of the dialogue is cringey and doesn't move the story forward. Also, Moira's actions often seem immature, making her seem more like a teenager rather than an adult. Overall Midnight Escape has a good premise but the execution doesn't live up to the promise.

Gets 2 stars simply because I didn't find any typos for the amount I read.
I'm dnf'ing at chapter 4, 15%.
It is so boring, humdrum and mundane it makes my brain hurt.
Everything is 'Thoughts'. No action. No intensity. Excruciatingly Slow.
A snail moves faster than this book.
