Dimitra Karamanides

Karamanides work on Pythagoras is an extremely difficult piece to gather knowledge from for a middle school student. Although, there is some great information and insight into the life of Pythagoras, I believe that a background knowledge on Greek and Middle Eastern life is required to gather as much information as I would like a student to pull from the book. That said, if I were to use this book, I would assign sections of reading rather than reading the entire book. Given the contributions made to field of Mathematics by Pythagoras, I believe that it is necessary to learn more about this man. I believe that the section on the logic of the Pythagorean Theorem is especially well done and easily comprehended by students learning the material. Overall, this book can serve as a great compliment to teaching Pythagorean Theorem in the classroom.… (más)
