Monica is informed the animal shelter is closing, so she kidnaps the animals and goes on the run with her newfound companion, Mitch. The chapters switch between Monica and Mitch to show their different agendas. Weeks into their new routine, extreme measures are taken to retrieve the pets. This is a very quick read.

reedom in Friday Harbor by Annee Jones is a Christian Contemporary Romance. Summer Connelly, a marketing specialist, calls Seattle home. When her boss asks her to take a special assignment she finds herself supervising the construction of a company float for the annual 4th of July parade in Friday Harbor, WA. Trying to rebuild her life after a painful divorce, she welcomes the opportunity.

Ace Lockhart works himself hard at his Portland contracting company, but something in his life feels off. When he returns to Friday Harbor because his elderly father is approaching the end of his life, Ace encounters Summer, and the lives of the two will never “bee” the same. (You’ll have to read the book to discover why I decided to use the word “bee” instead of “be”.

Annee Jones brings the characters and storyline to life through the pages of this book. I loved getting to know Summer and Ace as well as the majority of the men who are working on the float.

So if you enjoy Christian Contemporary Romances, check out Freedom in Friday Harbor by Annee Jones for yourself. I definitely recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

When readers first meet Summer, she is struggling to trust herself after leaving a terrible and abusive marriage.

On Friday Habor, Ace pays a visit to his dying father. He didn't anticipate meeting Summer. They had fun together when they constructed a Fourth of July float for the parade. Ace and Summer were becoming friends could it be more?

This author’s novel is part of a multi author Clean Slate series. With 130 pages, this is a short book that may be read as a standalone. If you enjoy heartwarming romances this book is for you.

I love that the story is set in a place that we have the opportunity to visit. The author describes it so well, that I may have to take a trip there. It sounds like a nice, easy going area where you can relax and enjoy the view.

The two main characters are at Friday Harbor for different reasons but they seem to connect very easily. Summer is there to work but things aren’t going as well as she had hoped. Her workers are not very respectful to her which doesn’t help her mood. Ace is there to visit his ailing dad and runs into Summer. Right away I could feel the chemistry and how easy it was for them to talk to each other.

They both are struggling with their faith and as they start to open up to each other it helps them see where they need to work on themselves. I loved when Ace said , “ I wonder if we tend to put the responsibility for our own happiness on other people too much.” We need to realize that whatever decisions we make are on us. If we are unhappy we need to change and ask God to help us become content and joyful in the season we are in.

The author touches on some subjects like divorce, panic attacks, domestic abuse and Alzheimer that may be triggers for some. It is handled in a graceful way that directs readers to healing and trusting God. Ace has become a valuable friend to Summer when he steps in to help before her project is ruined. He has such a kind demeanor and is always near by to keep an eye on Summer.

What a beautiful story that brings two people together and help each other during their time of need. The ending is bittersweet but I’m sure readers will find peace as the story leads to reconciliation and a new beginning.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
