In "Fortune and Glory," the second entry in Mark Len Mayfield's Miss Fortune series, based on the books by Jana DeLeon, we have another wonderful mystery featuring some of the best characters in mystery fiction today. While staying true to Ms. DeLeon's canon, Mr. Mayfield carves out a very nice niche for himself. I've come to really enjoy his stories featuring these characters and this one is a doozy.

When Fortune decides to investigate a cold case from 35 years ago, you just know all hell's going to break loose and it most certainly does. Of course, Gertie and Ida Belle are on hand, as well as a few other series favorites, and there are plenty of laughs and witticisms along the way. I literally read this book in one sitting, it is that good. If you like madcap adventure, laugh out loud characters and quirky mysteries, this series is one you need to start reading. I would recommend the original series by Jana DeLeon as well; however, this series by Mark Mayfield can be enjoyed completely on its own. This is a fast-paced, fun-filled mystery you'll be glad you read.… (más)
