Regina D. Jemison

I enjoyed most of the poetry in this book. Some of them were beautiful and an absolute joy to read, others were weaker in form and emotion. Among my favorites are Writin' My Blues Away; Hold on to God, a lawyer's prayer; and So Beautiful Just to Die.

Regina Jemison utilizes both word and form in her poetry collection "Soul Clothes" in a manner that, though not traditional, brings home her message. The verse is written in a modern style with an organic feel, though the edits are apparent. Overall, an intriguing read with quite a few gems, though readers of other modern poetry will be wishing for a bit more rawness at times.

I really like Jemison's deeply feeling poetry! Her poems are both inspirational and beautiful! I look forward to read more of her poetry.
