Personally, this book was always a drag when I read it because of the sad story of the dog. The main girl in the story India Opal falls in love with Winn Dixie and they quickly become friends. However, things take a turn for the worst which I think teaches children about the harsh reality of life. Not all books should have happy moments through out. I think what makes a good book is the ability the connect with the reader through the use of themes, vocab, morals, and life connections.

Tough topics: loneliness
In a town called Naomi, Florida there lived a girl named India Opal Buloni. Her mother walked out when she was little. One day her father told her to go to the grocery store. She went but she came back with a dog. Before that incident she didn’t have any friends. Now that she has the dog she is starting to meet new people.
The main characters are India Opal and Winn-Dixie. The setting is in Naomi, Florida. The conflict is India doesn’t have any friends. The resolution is India finds the dog and now she has a lot of friends.
People who should read this book are a person who likes to hear about kindness. If you like friendliness and funny things then this is the book for you to be reading. People who likes funny topics. Likes to hear about a girl and her dog you should read this book. If you love friendship and kind people then that’s in this book.
I give this book a 5 because it has good details, like when Opal first got the dog she was describing him. He was brown with bald spots and was ugly. This book is very interesting. It didn’t leave me with any questions. When I first read this book it grab my attention right away. This is one of the best books I have ever read. I think I’d like to read this book again
