Precise and fleeting, the object of great regard or wholly ignored, a rhythm and a beat - for every human being, time is finite. In the end, though, the narrator here concludes that time, especially the time spent with a loved one, is to be treasured...

Philosophical picture-books are extremely tricky, and well-nigh impossible to pull off successfully. Author/illustrator Sarah Jacoby somehow manages to do it with Forever or a Day, creating a thought-provoking, visually striking gem of a book. I found the artwork here absolutely beautiful, and felt it complemented the poetic text perfectly. This is a book to pore over, reading again and again, while pondering the mysteries of time. Recommended to those who enjoy more cerebral picture-books, that require a little more, well... time.… (más)
