Nick Holmes has been passionate about music ever since he joined his local church choir at the age of six. He has an English Degree from Oxford University and now works for BBC Radio making programmes for Radio 3 and 4, mostly about music. He was a semi-professional classical baritone for some mostrar más years and has also played guitar in various rock bands with his brother. His first live concert was Tangerine Dream at the Palace Theatre in Manchester, and he is lucky enough to have seen Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Prince live. He blogs at nick-holmes-music.com. Much more than a fascinating lecture, it's a trip back in time to delve into the different peoples warring in the area of Byzantium in the Eastern Roman Empire until Byzantium collapsed in the eleventh century. It's obviously well researched but not dry or lifeless. It is helpful to have maps on hand, even if they are modern.
Narrator Martin Carroll has not only the perfect natural voice, but a gift for cadencing to add to appreciation of the text.
