I read this book for our bookclub month of September and I really enjoyed it! The only thing that disappointed me was there is a sequel and I just don't think it will have the bang this one did.The author did a great job giving us the run down on the social scene in New York.

Goodreads says: "One unexpected twist after another follows as we watch a fierce, unapologetic Maud play the most important poker hand of her life. The stakes? To take down her enemies and get justice for their victims. Her success depends on her continuing ability to bluff. "

My notes say "Whip smart and fast moving, a giant poker game being played for revenge. Highly recommended. A few F bombs." and 4.5 stars

One Dangerous Lady is a distressing book. It demonstrates what people will do including murder in order to have more than you. Money means everything to the people who occupy the world that Jo Slatter, the heroine, lives in. This book only received three stars because of the story--getting away with murder. The lifestyle depicted in this book is just morally disgusting.

Social Crimes is a difficult book to read. It deals with a woman in the upper social class of New York City. She was written out of her husband's will with all of his money going to his lover. The woman who was spurned by her late husband becomes obsessed with the woman who inherited everything including her life and friends. Social Crimes is extremely upsetting in its plot. Because of the immorality of the behavior of the characters, this book only received three stars in this rating.
