I absolutely loved this book. I can relate to this story because my retina detached in my right eye and I loss 70% of my center vision. I am legally blind. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

OVERCOMING THE OBSTACLES!

Barbara Hinske’s Guiding Emily Series, starring the beautiful black Labrador Retriever, Garth, is one of my favorites. I am partial to black Labrador Retrievers myself and I love to read these books that are written with the Lab’s perspective! In Book 3, Over Every Hurdle, Hinske has written a story that provides readers with their favorite characters overcoming the obstacles in their personal relationships, work relationships, and in potential longterm relationships. Hinske has proven again that she knows how to write books that always have an interesting plot, teach us new things about people who are living without their sight, have dynamic family relationships, beautiful love stories, and always give extraordinary insights into the life of a guide dog.

Wishes of Home (The Wishing Tree Series Book 12) por Barbara Hinske

In Book 12 of the Wishing Tree series, we meet Pam and Steve. They are both personal trainers at the gym and are just beginning to date. Pam has been renovating her home and after blogging about her progress she finds out that many people in town have been following her blog. The local hardware store decides to start filming a home renovation series and asks Pam to be the 'star'. While Pam is struggling to meet the expectations of her new role, she finds that Steve may not have been totally honest with her and she quits speaking to him. Will they be able to get past their problems and find their happily ever after.

Pam is also looking for a young girl who hung a wish on the tree hoping for a no kill animal shelter in their town. Will Pam be able to make the young girl's wish come true?

The Unexpected Path: The Second Novel in the… por Barbara Hinske

I enjoyed the first book in this series (Guiding Emily) very much. I wanted to like this one but it really fell short.

It's not terrible and continues with the same characters as the first book but it is almost completely lacking in conflict which the first book had in abundance.

This really is a lesson for writers that without conflict (man against man, man against himself or man against nature), your book is not going to be interesting.
