As a historical biography of Carrie G. Stevens, this volume mainly concerns itself with her work as a fly tier. Her personal life is not reviewed other than for references to her integrity and honesty. This volume explores the evolution of the "Rangeley Favorite Flies" that she is famous for marketing during her lifetime. She was a pioneer in streamer fly design, doubly so as she was a woman in business at the early years of the 20th century. Very interesting, well written with a mass of photography pertaining to those early years around the lakes area along with the development of her style of streamer fly.
