This remarkable book details one family's life in rural Saskatchewan for twenty-some years to the coming of the Dust Bowl. It is fast moving, often hilarious, and touching. The work was endless and intense and vividly portrayed, but the joy of living was greatly present, too. The ugliest details of life are only touched on, making the book weigh heavily on the wholesome side, without omitting all knowledge of the cruel. Very enjoyable. Great to read aloud. Unfortunate it never got greater distribution. The author, incidentally, wrote for Ma Murray's Lillooet News for a time.… (más)
