You might think a book titled Catnapped: An Animal Instinct Mystery,
with a tagline of "Nine lives go fast.",
a picture of a cat on the cover,
a back blurb using cutesy wordplay alluding to cats ("her life is in the litter box...she'll need sharp instincts to survive."),
plus cat paw prints on the back cover and
a plot summary stating the case the main character must solve is finding a missing cat would be about a cat.
You would be wrong.
The cat "missing mystery" takes up about five percent of this novel.
The rest of the novel consists of herky-jerky and befuddling transitions and a "romantic" (actually, just sexual) relationship that's puzzling - why are they together? Why is the sex so great? Why did they get married in the first place? What are these horrible secrets in the main character's past that have traumatized her so and why should I care?
Ugh. Just ugh.
