a nice long walking journey - than it was.
The early chapters were crowded with avoidable complaints of the road, the blisters, the pressures of the time
line that the author and his wife had set, the lack of enough money set aside, the weight of the tent and rucksacks,
the boredom, the scenery, skipping the good attractions of the towns, the rain, etc., etc. This detracted from
any pleasure in the walk. Where were any birds and their songs? Wildlife? Flowers? Plants? Trees? Churches?
And no Singing?!?
Lots of details got missed - did they dig toilets? what and how did they cook?
The last third was totally repetitive and so even more disappointing.
Viktor Frankl's quote was the highlight of the book:
"The meaning of life differs from man to man, from day to day
and from hour to hour. What matters, therefore,
is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific
meaning of a person's life at a given moment."… (más)
