A classic boy and his dog story set during the Vietnam War. The characters are well devolved and the tension Joshua moving and having to make a new friend. Can see the frustration Joshua's dad is going through for being a Air Force recruiter in a unpopular war.

What I didn't like is when Joshua herd the coyote the story doesn't indicate that anyone else herd it. Like sound doesn't echo off the mountains. When I was staying with some relatives in upstate New York. I was camping outside on the mountain and coyotes were howling down in the valley in the middle of the night waking up everyone that was camping outside.

I did say this is a classic boy and his dog however, it takes a different turn. The dog does not die at the end. I'm so glad that didn't happen. I can't stand those types of stories.

Jack & me
By: Danette Hanworth
The book Jack & me is a feel good book with two characters Joshua and his dog Jack. I don’t know if this is a true story or not but for now I define it as fiction. The author of this book is Danette Hanworth. I liked this book mainly because to me the two characters are very relatable to my dog and I and the fact being his dad moves because of work a lot just like my dad. I feel this book is a good book for 10-14 year olds as me being 11 I can’t really understand what age this book would be good for. I would rate this book a ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭒. A quick summary is this book a boy is struggling with his mood so his dad lets him get a dog. You’ll have to read the rest for yourself.… (más)

What a wonderful telling of young adult changes. Living in rural Florida, Violet's life is good! She has close friends, a loving mother and a neighborhood of adults who care. Then, all too suddenly, Melissa, a pretty, savvy, intelligent and well-dressed girl moves from Texas, and Violet's small-town ways seem not as secure. Jealous when her best friend begins a friendship with Melissa.

Willing to include her, Violet simply becomes more nasty, snitty, insecure and hateful. When life-changing transformation occurs, Violet suddenly has to look at herself and her rude behaviors.… (más)

One of the best books I've read this year !
Though it is best described as a middle school read, I LOVED it. Being an Air Force brat and loving dogs, I could relate to every aspect written and truly enjoyed every page. Even though its about a different time frame then what I grew up in, the feelings were the same and it took me back to my early years growing up. An excellent read for anyone !
