Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Tr… por Austen Hartke
Great book that looks into gender/sex in the Bible, and how transgender Christians have wrestled with their faith. The discussion on eunuchs was particularly illuminating. Definitely recommend.

Why should this concept feel so threatening to so many? I think that the traditional Christian values of love and empathy would lead to an attitude of understanding, acceptance, and respect for people trying to live lives of authenticity and integrity. I still don't get it, and this book doesn't really help explain why many Christian hold that hostility towards transgender reality. But this book does do an excellent job of explaining an affirming and inclusive view, and I found that very refreshing and hopeful. The writing is clear and concise, the conclusions appear to be well-researched and, ultimately, convincing. This book is recommended reading for Christians who are open to a good-faith discussion of transgender issues.… (más)

RandyRasa | 4 reseñas más. | Jun 2, 2021 | Hartke was baptized into the Lutheran church as an adult and embraces Luther’s both/and of saint and sinner – we are fully each. The book weaves together the stories of trans peoples’ experiences and stories of the Bible. Many people were interviewed for the book to share their stories and help support the efforts of expanding resources for trans people. There are lots of suggestions on finding more information and groups in the Notes and Further Readings sections.
