If I Were Beautiful is a uniquely plotted, surprisingly funny, interestingly relate-able novel by Devon Hartford.

The story revolves around Jane feeling like no one would like her because of how she looks. She was also not happy when men would try courting her only to find out in the end that they don’t like her; instead, it was her sister, Chelsea, they really liked. It was Sunday, and she has a new neighbor who was a jerk, and on that day, she also met Wes, and the conversation between them really amazed me and made me laugh. Before going home, Wes just let her have the ring she was clutching when she went inside a room in the mansion. The real story will start from there because, after 5 days, she just found herself changed – physically changed – into looking like a supermodel.

This book was really lovely to read. Reading this will teach you that outside look was not important and it won’t make you happy. It was better to be simple yet happy and contented.

The characters were well-written, and I love how Jane experienced both sides of being unnoticeable and getting a lot of attention. You could see on this book that people tends to just befriend and like you if you were gorgeous and if you were not, then you could only count your friends on your fingers.

I just hate how it made me crave for the next book. I’m really excited to find out who will win her in the end.

I am really recommending this book! Just read this for you to see how this book will enchant you to read it.

True to its blurb, this book has left we excited to see what is going to happen next. I am completely new to this author, but was lucky to come across is and love the idea of love with a little mythical nature to it. It was wonderful and exciting to see someone who had always deserved attention to finally get it, even if she wasn't sure how it suddenly happened. I think the excitement of knowing she'd be set loose to enjoy people seeking her out and wondering how she reacted really pulled me in and luckily it did because this is such a lovely read.

It was a refreshing read and had a unique perspective on the whole process of wanting, getting and the enjoying the dating life. It was written in a way that definitely felt a little fresh and exciting, rather than follow the typical route most write through, with a romantic read. I loved that, as it made it exciting all over again.

The characters are lovely, friendly and easy to connect with. I particularly liked the main character, as she was real and so easy to feel as though I was getting to know her. This meant that I was able to connect with the story and feel as though I was there. Being fully submerged into the read obviously meant I had a really hard to putting the book down and an even harder time closing the back cover (so to speak, as I was on my kindle) and know that I had to patiently, and very excitedly, await the next book.

Overall, a lovely read and one I would recommend if you want something lovely to read of an evening, especially with the day of love approaching.

Arc received for review.

Ok, first off, I didn’t realize that this was book 2 of a series until after I read it, so I probably missed some important points from book 1. Everyone knows how anal I am about starting a series from the beginning and reading through so I’m kicking myself here.

This is an NA book about characters in college. I would categorize it as a coming of age story. The characters are trying to figure out their lives, understand love and their futures.

The author is great at descriptive writing: the imagery, similes, metaphors, and other unique ways of bringing the scenes to life. It’s all very fresh. Also, the understanding of the arrest, jail, and court processes are apparent. Based on my very limited art background, I would say Mr. Hartford has a very good grasp if not full mastery of the subject. I actually learned some things about art while reading Reckless.

In some sections of the novel, I felt like I was in an episode of some Disney Channel television show where they can’t have normal down time, but have to remain silly and spastic all the time to try to be entertaining. The banter was witty, but seemed pushed too far, over written. That being said, I have never heard so many clever yet immature one-liners in my life (probably a perfect draw to the target age audience).

The main focus is on Samantha and Christos, but also includes a few friends. One friend is Romeo, and he’s gay. Gay dudes always make a story better.

I also have to share about Christos, the male lead. Where can I find a guy like this? He is rich, artistic, built, sexy, tall, tattoed, and blue-eyed. He is a gourmet cook, a master masseur, an experienced fighter, an expert motorcycle and car street racer, and professional painter (for real that’s his job), and an orgasm kingpin. Oh and he’s Greek and speaks Greek.

In the words of the author,
“TEAM CHRISTOS!
Screw it. TEAM ROMEO!!!!!!!!”

Btw it’s a cliffhanger.

First I have to say that I love Devon's writing. He has his own way of making you love and hate characters that you don't always get with other authors.
Victory Run is all about Victory Payne and her quest to be the baddest guitar bitch out there. No matter how many obstacles get thrown in her way, she is bound and determined to make it on her own terms. No one will ever tell Victory she can't do it without her wanting to prove them wrong. However, Kellan is a pretty boy whose dream is to make it big with a band. Will he ever be able to convince Victory that they aren't meant to form a band?!? I loved all three of these books and I can't wait to read more.… (más)
