Maxine Hancock

This was a really meaningful book to me as a young wife and a young Christian. Maxine Hancock writes more about how to "like" the frugal life than tips on how to "live" it. That's okay, because it was published in 1977 and how-to tips would be outdated 40 years later (she gives a few). The scriptural basis of the book is St Paul's "I have learnt in whatever state I am to be content" (Philippians 4:11) and she has quite a bit to say about how she, and others, learnt that lesson.

The old rhymes have been worn smooth and lvely by a thousand tellings. They are filled with history and belong to children just as they are

Every mother receives the bookmarkers and childish art. But she receives far more valuable gifts than these if she has eyes to see.
