Gideon Haigh is an Australian journalist and writer, born in 1965. He was educated at Trinity College at the University of Melbourne. He has contributed to numerous newspapers and magazines in his thirty years as a journalist. He has written thirty books and edited seven others. His book, On Warne, mostrar más won the British Sports Book Awards Best Cricket Book of the Year Award, the Cricket Society and MCC Book of the Year Award, the Jack Pollard Trophy, and the Waverley Library Nib Award. The Office won the NSW Premier's Literary Awards Douglas Stewart Prize for Non-fiction. Other recent titles include Uncertain Corridors: Writings on Modern Cricket, End of the Road?, and The Deserted Newsroom. Cracking read. The story of the 2023 Ashes. Bazball - and all stuff like that. As ever great stuff from Gideon. A comment on the dustjacket is very true - A great cricket series, as reported by a great cricket writer.

In the background of the ball tampering affair in South Africa in 2018, Haigh reviews the changes in Australian cricket in the 2010s. Haigh takes a very different approach from Geoff Lemon who reviews Australian cricket in the background of the same controversy in Steve Smith's Men. Haigh mainly evaluates the changes in the administration as it went from cricket-centric to just a business, managed by a bunch of people with limited knowledge of the game.

It is a small and important book but not a very interesting read.… (más)
