Ein sehr gemischter Eindruck: manches ist so akademisch-verschwurbelt geschrieben, dass es fast unleserlich wird, manches offenbart sehr bissig seine Abneigungen (zB gegen executive blouses und potluck dinners mit matschigen Salaten in Tupperware), anderes bietet tiefe und hellsichtige Einblicke in die amerikanische Alltagskultur (zB sein Kapitel über football und einen Ostergottesdienst in einer Prebyterian Church).
