Brief biographies of a number of men active in the period of the American Revolution and the Constitutional Convention. They are supposedly "forgotten" but in fact some of them are quite well known --they include James Wilson --perhaps genuinely forgotten, but one of the few men in the Constitutional Convention who foresaw how the Constitution would really work -- later a supreme Court justice ruined by debt (and I have seen elsewhere, whiskey), George Mason, noted for demanding a bill of rights, Gouverneur Morris, US envoy to France during the French Revolution, (which e opposed) John Jay the first chief justice and negotiator of Jay's treat, Roger Sherman of the "Connecticut Compromise" , John Marshall the influential chief justice (certainly not forgotten), John Dickinson, more important for Letters from an American Farmer before the Revolution, Thomas Paine the great pamphleteer (also hardly forgotten), Patrick Henry, whose speeches are more remembered that his role as political boss of Revolutionary Virginia, and Anti=Federalist and John Witherspoon, known chiefly to Presbyterians because he was the only Presbyterian minister to sign the Declaration of Independence.
