Georgia Graham's "When Wolves Howl' is about the lives of wolves, in their natural habitat. This book beautifully creates the exposition by introducing the main character Haze, who doesn't have the most dominant personality in the wolf pack. The story's main conflict comes when another wolf pack tries to harm Haze's brothers and sisters, whom he protects. This book would be great for 1st and 2nd graders, on a unit about animals surviving in the wild. This could also bring up discussion about the needs of mammals on how they compare and contrast to each other.… (más)
