I really wish I could rate this one higher. The characters are solid and the skeleton of the plot is extremely promising, but the execution just didn't work. Firstly, there are glaringly obvious historical inaccuracies that are constantly pulling the reader from the story. Furthermore, the story is very rushed. I felt that it could have easily been twice as long and so much better for it (with the opportunity to allow things to happen at a more natural pace). Add to that the author's habit of telling vs showing. Finally I have to say the romance was very unsatisfactory. Because they didn't even really meet until more than 70% of the way through the story, there was no way for the author to show me the falling in love process and get me fully on board with their ending.… (más)

I really enjoyed these two clean Historical Western Romances. I voluntarily chose to review these two back to back stories. I've given them each a 5* rating. This author brought these characters alive and found them brides too in a time when women were not always treated as well.Both stories could be read as stand a lone stories but together gave the characters more depth for short stories. These stories are also No.s 20 and 21 in the Pure Read Clean Read Vol. 2 bundle of 41 books. Onto the next.… (más)
