This is a sweet book that shares about different animals and the homes you might find them in. There are also some great talking points in the book regarding littering ("satin bowerbird makes a home of anything blue" with plastics and bottle caps pictured). You can also talk with children about what "home" means to them before reading this book, and then after, to discuss how a home may not look like we may typically think!

This book is fairly long so I would suggest using it for an intermediate-level classroom. This story is about the history of the White House garden and how it was used to feed lots of people at the White House. This book would be helpful for your students if you were having them read it as a step to learning how to write a book report since it had some great additional resources such as pictures, recipes, and other resources at the back of the book. This book was pretty extensive but it also has a lot of good information about the history of the White House Garden and had a great call to action at the end of the book.… (más)

As a child, Edna learned from her family to live with the seasons as they grew and harvested their own crops; as they harvest, she thinks about what she can cook, bake, preserve, or brew with each fruit, root, leaf, bean, and vegetable.

Back matter includes an author's note, a photo of Chef Edna Lewis, a list of her cookbooks, and five recipes.

More text than most picture books; good for an attentive preschool reader or early grade school.
