Eric Gorges has been the host of A Craftsman's Legacy since it began in 2014. After a health crisis caused him to reevaluate his life, he sought out one of the best metal shapers in the country and signed on as his apprentice. This mostly reads like what it is, a summary of a TV show. Better when he's talking about his own struggles, pretty thin soup elsewhere.

This book reminds of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which was published when I was in college. Its a collection of stories about how craftsmanship brings meaning to people's lives. I work in an office, and although the work I do is technical I can still value and see the need for people that work in mechanical, construction, and agricultural fields. In fact I watch YouTube videos about a farrier in Scotland that works on dairy cows. There is something captivating about how much compassion this farrier puts into his work. Not everyone is made for academics or running startups, some of just need to follow our own paths.… (más)

I listened to over an hour, and had more than 6 hours to look forward to. Nope. Gorges read his own work, and perhaps it was his voice and cadence that are at issue. It just became unbearably boring. I will recommend two related books instead of this dud.
