Domenica More Gordon

Archie is pretty much and a picture book with no words. The only words on the pages are the ringing of a phone, the sound of the sewing machine, and the woofing of the dogs. The book is very unique and nothing like I've read before. I was afraid I wasn't going to have a clue what this book could be about but I finally understood. It explains how one man who had his dog all stylish with a coat and eventually everyone was calling him to make their dogs one. This explains how our society actually is today. You can post one picture on Facebook or Instagram and everyone is going to want to know where you got your outfit from our where are you are eating because your dinner looks so good. This was a great picture book with no words. This would be great for young kids and this illustrations were great.… (más)

I use the tag "wordless book" lightly here. But this book is mostly in doggie language with a few verbs and "ooh's and ahh's" thrown in for good measure. I tended to hone in the pictures first or seemingly simultaneously with the text, and that's unusual for me. I always go text first and sometimes have to remind myself to actually study the illustrations in the picture books.

The artwork reminds me of the illustrations in "The King who Rained", and feels 70's retro to me.

This book is "tailor-made" to evoke smiles, and that's enough for me to give it 3 stars. Of course readers are drawing plot inferences. Now that I have a few wordless books, in my arsenal, I'm curious to place them back to back throughout a week, and see what meanings students will deduce.… (más)
