Orchestral conductor and seer of ghosts, Gethsemane Brown is back in this third installment of the music-murder-paranormal series that takes place in lovely rural Ireland. I absolutely LOVE the setting. The descriptions of the quaint little Irish town where Gethsemane teaches school and deals with ghost Eamon (who happens to live in her house) completely make this book. Add in a team of ghost hunters visiting her village, a curse that feels like it’s straight out of Phantom of the Opera, and a classroom full of teenage boys eager to get on TV, and this was a fun ride.

This was a cozy mystery with a nifty unique take! I kept seeing the beautiful covers for this series come up as friends read it and being a music lover, knew I had to read it. Gethsemane Brown is a talented classic violinist from the US who has moved to Ireland to take a teaching job at a rural school for high school boys. Their orchestra is in sorry shape and there’s a big competition coming up.

If you’re a music nerd, you will LOVE the music references and little bits about rehearsals and competitions.

There’s also the complication that in Gethsemane’s new living quarters, there seems to be a ghost (apparently, she can see the dead!) and he wants her to track down the person who killed him and framed it as a suicide 25 years ago. So, some amateur sleuthing to do. The beginning takes a bit to gain momentum, but once things got going, I really enjoyed this. Looking forward to book two.

I always enjoy finding cozy mystery series that are a bit unusual, and this one, with Gethsemane Brown, talented musician, conductor and teacher who also has a knack for seeing ghosts in her newfound Ireland home, is quirky and different! This time, her brother-in-law art dealer, Jackson, who works at a museum has come for a visit, her cottage is about to be sold to developers, and when Jackson is framed for stealing an antique embroidered sampler at an art auction, things get complicated.

Gethsemane goes to the house of a wealthy widow in town undercover as a musician at a charity ball, trying to get more information, and gets accused of murder. And of course, there are ghosts! This was another fun addition to the series with lots of musical and historical references. No scenes at the school or teaching, which I missed, but I liked the story that was told. Will definitely read on to the next book.

Gethsemane Brown, orchestra conductor and amateur sleuth, is back and ready to solve more mysteries in this fourth book in the series. This time, it’s to track down what’s going on surrounding mysterious rose bouquets being left in connection to a cold case murder from years ago—coinciding with a huge garden show in town where her orchestra is performing. But when someone turns up dead and a friend of Gethsemane’s is a prime suspect, she has to work with her ghost friends to figure out the connection between the two, and find the real killer.

I love finding cozy mystery series that are quirky and different, and this one with its Irish setting, and Gethsemane who is a musician and orchestral conductor, is a great addition to the other series I read. The writing is wonderfully detailed and I like that each book takes us in a slightly different direction.
