Although this book was interesting - I learnt a lot about unusual foods and travel - I couldn’t think past reports of Rene Redzepi’s bad treatment of staff and the exploitation of indigenous workers, most particularly in Mexico. The author, a New York Times food writer acknowledges that obsession and perfectionism plague the founder of Noma. Although some of the food sounds incredible I couldn’t see how some of the poorest people in the world could afford the $600 price tag for food at Noma Mexico. Crazy rich people throwing money through a fence, begging for a booking just made it seem more obscene. Great ideas but too many flaws to be acceptable. Thankful for all our cheap and cheerful places and those higher end places who are reasonable with staff and prices. Boo… (más)

How Generation X Got the Shaft but Can Still Keep Everything from Sucking - I don't know, can we? I'm all for the smaller movements, of course, playing on the edges and gently steering people toward new ideas and paths, but do we Gen Xes actually have the voice loud enough to be heard over the Tweets? This book left me with more questions than answers to be honest.

Strong, varied, essay collection that will make you love music and the women who make it all the more. Pay particular attention to Elissa Schappal on Kim Gordon, Kate Christenson on Tina Turner and Taffy Akner on Taylor Swift and passive aggressiveness.
