This is a review of the beta version, but I don't see it as changing much. I found the book pretty much useless. None of the problems about C, except for some of the scanf questions, challenged me. (I'd look up the fine details of scanf in the man page if I ever needed to, so even those questions weren't interesting, but they were at least somewhat challenging.) About half the problems were mathematical questions, asking you to recognize certain calculations, in a way that has little to do with programming and nothing to do with any tricky parts of C. I'm really not sure who this is aimed at; it's not challenging for anyone who knows C, and it's not my day-in day-out language. Frustratingly, one of the harder questions, about static strings, the author basically said he didn't know the details, and didn't bother to offer the distinction between his implementation and the standard.… (más)
