William Randolph Hearst was an American newspaper publisher. William attended Harvard for two years before he was expelled for sponsoring large beer parties. He then took control of the San Francisco Examiner, a paper his father owned. Hearst “remade” the paper, made it better, and soon enough it's sales were increasingly better. Hearst then bought out the New York Morning Journal. Using this platform Hearst incorporated new ways of journaling to American journalism such as Yellow Kid cartoons which later became known as yellow journalism. Hearst continued to play with journalism and eventually became mayor of New York. William Hearst changed journalism.
I’m not sure how I feel about this book. It was a different change of pace which was nice. I don’t know much about journalism or writing but it was really cool to read about how Hearst changed and influenced so much. I stumbled upon this book while scrolling through MackinVia and I’m not complaining. I recommend it if you are into writing.
