Really engaging, well-paced suspense, and brings all the color and earthiness of the period to life. Right up there with the best Karen Maitland novels. Highly recommended.

It’s nearing the Yuletide at Glen Strae and Abby McGregor’s husband, Iain, has gone to collect his brother, or so he says as Abby is not so sure he’s telling the truth. When she finds out that he’s actually gone to help her parents during a dangerous situation, Abby takes matters into her own hands.

Highland Yuletide Wish is a novella in the Highland Ballad series. This is a lovely festive read and it gives a good insight into some of the characters, the setting and the era. The plot is intriguing enough to tempt the reader to want to read more in the series. I’ve only read Highland Lioness which I enjoyed so this novella has tempted me to read other books in the series.… (más)

Saoirse is a young woman who finds out the life she knew is anything but. After getting canned at her barista job she learns that her father has died and that she was adopted. MINDBLOWN. Well, as she is adapting here comes her real grandmother. She goes to visit her for a bit and ends up loving Cord with its quirky people and fantastic music. She also meets Smithy, who has a mysterious air about him. These two have an adventure of a lifetime, or maybe two, trying to figure out why. Though she learns that her grandmother is Mother Earth and there are so many secrets and mythteries to be uncovered. This book is absolutely FANTASTIC. Even though I didn't understand what some words meant, i loved the community amongst the characters. The whole mythtery around the plot kept me never wanting to see this book end. (P.S. Is it November yet? I'll be eagerly awaiting Book 2). There are 2 plots that intertwine so smooth. The description in the book just fuels my desire to visit Ireland. Big recommend! 5/5… (más)

Morag McGregor is sent to the Scottish court of 1559 after instigating a spot of cattle rustling and purloining Rory Campbell's horse. She sets out on a journey of revenge and finds herself involved in the world of spies, politics and royal intrigue.

I enjoyed this historical romp come adventure story. It’s beautifully written with some great imagery of life at court. I liked that it combined historical fact with fiction. I felt I learned a little more about the machinations of the era. The main character is a very determined and courageous young lady, she has a sharp edge to her. She’s no shrinking violet! There is a love interest in the form of a nobleman who is not as he seems, he put me in mind of the Scarlet Pimpernel. All great ingredients for an entertaining and intriguing novel.

An easy to read, well paced and plotted tale which should appeal to historical romantic suspense fans. It does form part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.
