I would like to thank NetGalley, Headline and Kate Glanville for this e arc copy for review
This is a womens fiction book that starts in 1992 where we have Martha with her husband Andrew and young baby son walking on the street when some people recognise Martha as a former pop star, she gets chatting to these people as her husband and baby continue along the road. Whilst trying to catch up with them she is struck by a car.
We then go forward to 2019 where we find Martha alone living in France, she is recovering from painkiller dependency a product of the car accident. She is living in an old convent. The convent needs work doing to it and the bank is on her back so she decides to let it for holidays. She is expecting a couple to turn up but she gets a small family and from here the fun starts. More and more people turn up, some connected to the initial guests. Each person has something going on and as the story develops all the secrets and issues are revealed.
I don’t think I have read a book where so much happens in each chapter. This is the first book by Kate Glanville that I have read it won’t be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it. … (más)
