A brave effort at presenting the case for the older, Nehruvian, approach of broad inclusivity, tolerance for different points of view, and rationalism in India's affairs. In parallel with many other parts of the world, there seems to a strong push-back to these older values, from a rejuvenated and strengthened rightist-traditionalist school. However, the author may be preaching to the already committed (liberal); it is doubtful that any of this will reach the ears (or the minds) of the other section, which is currently riding high on election mandates. However, the future is probably with the liberals, as the opposite approach will gradually take the nation down self-damaging and unproductive alleys; the only downside of that 'process' approach is the excessive, and needless, suffering and distress it will cause the society, economy and polity.… (más)
