Mitchell L. Gaynor (1956–2015)

Interesting book on using sound/toning/music as therapy. This would have been a much better book if the author (an oncologist) had

a. used exercises that were more practical. Someone not having used mantra or sound therapy before might be confused as to how to use them (the instructions were fine if you had someone to help
guide you; not so great if you were trying to do a self help)
b. not felt the need to remind the reader several times that he was a highly trained oncologist (seemly more in the way of apologizing that someone of his caliber would use a healing modality such as sound)
c. not used what I consider a misleading book title - the term "recovery" would imply to me that a cancer patient had gone into complete remission and did not die from his/her cancer. The author uses the word to
mean life extension beyond what is typical for the prognosis.

Even with those flaws the book had a great deal of information about sound therapies both from the author's case histories and from the practices of other healers. It is a good starting point to learn about how sound can be used as healing device and the logic behind the use but it is not a stand alone all inclusive.
