5560. History of The House of Representatives Second Edition, by George B. Galloway Revised by Sidney Wise (read 26 May 2018) This book, published in 1976 and with apparently the same ISBN number as the first edition (which was published in 1962), is actually an interesting book and I only wish it had not been over 40 years old. I don't know if there is an edition subsequent to this second edition. It tells how the House was planned in the Constitutional Convention of 1787, and how it has changed over the years in its rules, committees, leadership, functions, and how it has interacted with the Senate and the President. Much is fascinating and it has tables of the speakers and leaders of te House and the number of laws enacted. If a person running for the House does not read this book before he or she is elected I hope when he or she is successful this book, or, hopefully, its more up-to-date edition, will be read by such prospective member of the House. .… (más)
