- An Irish lecturer author and historian, O Gadhra’s writings were primarily in the Irish language and he was a life-long activist for the language as a former President of Conradh na Gaeilge. In 1994 he became a founder member of TG4, the Irish language television station.

Civil War in Connacht por Nollaig O Gadhra
This is a very interesting book. Most of the books written about the Civil War are from a pro-Treaty perspective and in this one O Gadhra is sympathetic to those who took the Republican side in the conflict. The author also provides a general picture of how the civil war came into being which is very readable. While the title reads the Civil War in Connacht the book chiefly deals with the Civil War in Galway rather than in other areas of the province. I expected that the book would make reference to the conflict in the other western counties as well such as Sligo and Mayo. This is perhaps a work for other books.… (más)
