This was fine, just fine. AF has interesting ideas but only delivers the shallowest take on them. Feels like eating cotton candy- nothing filling about it.

Bad fashion sense? That is the wearer’s fault. Unattractive features? Blame genetics, not the person.

Belaboring points drags any plot down. To repeatedly focus on physical features over which one has no control is cruel. If it’s crucial to the plot, mention it once and move on- readers have brains and can remember and process information. His speech at 77% in is nice but we’ve been bludgeoned with too much abuse by then.

Any reader who has similar features that are being mocked will be turned off by the repetitive cruelty of diluting one’s worth to something that they did not create. I know I cringe whenever a female character is mocked for having a mustache.… (más)

Loved the MCs. Would have enjoyed a deeper dive into the plot but it was a good story, start to end.

Still too much focus on the negative to really earn many body positivity points but A LOT better than the prior book. The MCs were okay.
