This was a fun read, though it didn't stand out to me in any particular way. The gods and goddesses of Olympia are treated as regular beings (well, mostly), rather like an origins story for superheroes, which I particularly liked. I've read other books about gods where they're treated as such, and it's always more fun for the stories to be told without the characters being deities.

It's not a book that I look to reread all that often, but I have recommended it to friends who also enjoy retellings of old stories, and I find that it's one of the better romance novels I've come across.… (más)

Hades & Persephone. I'd have liked this better if I hadn't read P. C. Cast's Goddess of Spring first. Pretty much a straight retelling of the myth, more than a romance, though it's billed as a romance. The main characters are only in about half of the book--the rest of the book is about other characters--Demeter, Hermes, Narcissa, etc.

Re-telling of the story of Aphrodite, and Troy, and Eros and.... Very much like this spring's Love Underground. I enjoy the retelling of the myths, giving the gods & goddesses personalities, but there's no focus at all to the story. It just rambles on, goes off on tangents, and then stops. It's like driving around looking at fall leaves. It's a pleasant enough trip, but you don't get anywhere.
