This informative-type of nonfiction story is about how apples are made and why they are one of the most delicious fruit in the world. When I finished reading the "Apples" book, I discovered two reasons why I became interested in the story. First, nonfiction is a great element for this book since there is organized information. Most people would wonder how to grow apples. The book specifically explained about growing apples in the orchards and harvesting them. Jacqueline Farmer's book included table charts, trivia activities, and historical events. Next, the writing was more meaningful and relevant in informing the reader about apples. There are also benefits of staying healthy when it comes to eating apples. For instance, people must wash apples properly and eat them clean, which is a cautious tip. The central message of "Apples" is learning about the benefits of apples. It also teaches readers on how make good apple recipes, such as an apple pie. I enjoyed this book because apples are one of my favorite food.… (más)

This is an interesting picture book all about apples. Though I was only drawn to this book because it seemed to fit the science theme I ended up learning a lot I didn't know about how apples are grown and the history of apples throughout the centuries. The illustrations were both interesting and informational and their inclusion helped to picture the subjects being discussed.

this is wonderful for a teaching lesson about bananas, this book teaches kids about where bananas come from, how they are healthy for you and also about how a banana tree or plant is different from other trees and plants. I would read this book to a group of kids who are learning about bananas and the age group would be around 5 and up.

"Apples" is a very informative book that shares with readers information on where apples come from, where they grow, the different varieties, and even nutrition. I found this book very informative due to the illustrations and labels. Each illustration contained a label that helps the reader visual what they are reading in the text. For example, the text explains cross-pollination of the apple blossoms, while the illustration shows a picture of an apple blossom with the different parts labeled such as pistil, ovary, and stigma. Also, I liked this book because of the subtitles. In large green font, subtitles appear over specific bodies of text. Some of these subtitles are varieties, apple cider, nutrition, and tips. These subtitles make the text more organized and easy to locate specific information. The book's big message is to education the reader on apples. With the subtitles and labeled illustrations, the book is a very informative piece.… (más)
