"Falls a raindrop it goes plip plop coming faster drip drop, drip drop
Building in excitement like a summer storm, this playful picture book invites readers to join two young girls as they celebrate the weather. Moving indoors to watch from a safe distance, the children marvel at the thunder and lightning and beat sandbox-bucket "drums" to the rhythm of the rain. When the danger passes, they don yellow raincoats and red galoshes to go out and play in the puddles. The boundless energy of the simple rhyming verse is matched by the childlike watercolor illustrations, which capture the magic of the rain and the delight in the children's faces. Readers who might be frightened of storms will notice that one of the two girls is apprehensive at first, but that the enthusiasm of her friend is reassuring and infectious. Keep this joyful title on hand for reading aloud on stormy days." -- Scholastic, Inc.… (más)

Daddies get center stage in this cute, sweet and warming picture book with one, wonderful intention. . .to celebrate Dads!

With whimsical rhymes, each page hits upon the amazing, fun and important things dads do with and for their kids. After each two-page spread, the phrase 'Daddies Do. That's Who!' appears—something young readers will easily catch onto and start yelling along. And dads do a lot. From wrestling for fun, to clapping the loudest at school plays, to swooping in to save bad days, this book is chucked full.

Bright, humorous and touching illustrations radiate on every page. The dads and their kids are depicted with various animals from lions, to penguins to octopuses and everything in between. The settings are lively and the characters induce smiles. There are also many little details sprinkled in to make each flip through the pages interesting.

Warmth and love fill these pages as the dads aren't only fun and exciting, but patient, kind and supporting. It's a great book for Father's Day and simply for those moments to think of dads.

I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed it enough to want to leave my honest thoughts.

Shalom! That's hello in Hebrew. This book explores simple greetings in and phrases in 12 different languages, with pronunciations. Readers will enjoy trying all the new words in different languages. Teachers could post words around the classroom for exposure and practice and to encourage kids to use them. The back contains a cool map with major languages all over the world and where they are spoken. I wonder why the author left English out though?
