Protect the Prince: A Crown of Shards Novel por Jennifer Estep
Why does everyone have the motivations of an angsty 15 year old? The romance is so one dimensional. My problem with these books is essentially that they have an excellent premise, and in the hands of a better writer might be more compelling as fantasy and/ or drama. I liked the end though, doing a grand gesture was good. It was really hitting the 11th hour there .
I think I remember now why I paused this series all those years ago... there's a lot of blood and violence in the first couple chapters of this book, and a quick skim through the rest of it shows that there's a lot more to come. I know that the "assassin" in the series title should probably indicate that this would be a violent book, but this one just goes way beyond my preferences for blood and violence these days. The characters are fun, but not enough to keep my interest among all the blood. ~ DNF @ 8%… (más)
EDIT: Okay, I persevered, finished it and ended up kinda liking it. Scared to try the next one, though. We'll see. If I can't find anything else, I may give it a go. I'm in a reading desert right now where nothing appeals.
EDIT: Well, I tried it again, 4 years later and still can't get thru it. Funny---its not bad, its just not good enough to keep going.
